Fact-check

Checking figures

Have numbers from another source and not sure they hold up? We tell you where they may come from, what they measure and their limits.

What a good analyst comment contains

A comment should add something your readers will not find in a press release.

A figure or comparison that shows the scale of the issue
The causes: why the market is growing, shrinking or changing
A view on whether the change will last
What it means for companies, customers or the region
A clear caveat when the data is incomplete or estimated

We match the length to your format: one sentence for a news item, a few paragraphs for an analysis, a longer conversation for an interview.

Every figure with a source and a date. Every comment with a name.

Since 2006 we have worked with data from registers, public statistics and interviews with companies in the industry.

How we prepare data for the media

We follow these rules in every reply to a newsroom.

Every figure comes with its source and the period it covers
We keep source data apart from analyst estimates and explain how an estimate was made
If the latest data is a few years old, we say so
When sources disagree, we show both values and explain the difference
We do not disclose data from client projects. We comment on the basis of public data and our own reports
Comments are free and do not promote any company

Questions from journalists

Working with us

Do you charge for data or comments?

No. Data for your story, an analyst comment and interviews are free for newsrooms. Only a report prepared specifically for publication is paid.

How quickly do you reply?

We first confirm whether we can help. We agree the delivery time for data or a comment with you, depending on the topic and scope. If it is urgent, say so in your message or call us.

Can I call instead of writing?

Yes. Our press contact is Agnieszka Wolska: +48 601 091 860. For longer questions we will ask for a short e-mail with the scope.

Do you comment in English?

Yes. We comment in English and Polish.

Do I have to link to MarketHub?

We ask you to name the source: “Source: MarketHub, markethub.pl”. Online, a link to the page with the data helps readers check the figures, but it is not a condition of working with us.

Can I get a quote approved?

Yes. Send the quote to the address you received the comment from and tell us your deadline.

Do you give interviews or appear on air?

Yes. Tell us the format, topic and date, and we will suggest someone from the team.

Can we talk off the record?

Yes. If you want to understand an industry first, we can set up a background briefing. We agree beforehand what you can quote.

Data

Where does your data come from?

From our own analyses and reports, public data such as Statistics Poland (GUS) and company registers, and interviews with companies in the industry. We give the source and date of every figure.

In what form do you send data?

Usually in the body of an e-mail with a source line. Larger tables come as a spreadsheet and charts as image files.

Can I use charts from your reports?

Yes, with the source named. If you need a chart in another form or a higher resolution, write to us.

What if your figures differ from another source?

We explain where the difference comes from: a different market definition, period or method. If needed, we give both values.

Do you comment on specific companies?

Yes, on the basis of public data such as financial statements and registers. We do not disclose information from client projects.

Can you prepare data on a topic you have not published on?

If we have access to the data and there is enough time, yes. If the topic needs its own research, we will suggest a report for publication.

Reports for publication

What is a report for publication?

A market analysis or short survey prepared specifically for a story, a series, a newsroom report or an event. We agree the release date with your newsroom. See partner reports.

Can a newsroom co-publish a report?

Yes. A report can appear under the newsroom’s brand or under both brands. We agree the rules before we start.

Tell us what story you are working on, what you need and your deadline. We will confirm whether we can help and agree a delivery time with you.
